Bengtsson is from the area and has lived in Stockholm. She moved back home after a few years. She has worked in care (home care, nursing home). She has goats and usually keeps them at Ransbysätern during the summer. Ransbysätern is a hostel and there is a café where she also works sometimes. She nålbinder and knits and sells her products mostly from home but also via the Utmarksmuseet where she sells her handicraft products under commission. She takes care of her goats and also makes products from goat's milk, she knows how to do the (nordic) hearding cattle call. She lives in a small house with her partner.

Bengtsson learned to make the Dalby mittens "Dalbyvantar" of Karin Amundsen during 1986-1987. Amundsen learnt from Torp-Mari. Technique is shown in the book: "Vinterblomster. Nålbundna vantar från Dalby i Värmland". Elisabeth Jacks Svantesson.

Bengtsson has taught p2p, held courses and workshops and has taught and lectured at the local high school about the mittens, their history and the technique. She's teaching a local girl and a woman remotely by phone. People can call her to get help, and then she sits down by the phone with her needle so she can describe what she's doing.

To make the Dalbyvantar, Dalby mittens, one need to use the specific nålbindnings technique. It is described as "the Dalby technique" and is illustrated in the book "Vinterblomster. Nålbundna vantar från Dalby i Värmland" (p.36). It requiers a knowledge in the decoration with embrodery. It's a practical and traditional knowledge.

Bengtsson is native to the area, and returned after a few years in Stockholm.

Only wool yarn

Bengtsson buys her wool yarn from Norway at Europris. trysilgarn.europris.no. She does not want to buy online, since she needs to experience the quality of the yarn and choses to shop in a phisical store. She likes the Swedish yarns sold at Wåhlsteds wahlstedts.com and Gästrikegarn jarbo.se

She does emboridery with the left overs, and make yarn balls for her cat.

She does nålbidning, embrodery and sews.

Bengtsson has two needles in moose bone that means something special for her, which she got from the cultural bearer Karin Amundsen, in her youth. These needles has followed her throuout her life. Bengtsson makes her own needles from moose bone, but it's difficult to get good moose bones.

Bengtsson makes all her products at home in her house and has no studio.

Bengtsson makes the tradtitional mittens and other objects inspired by the specific design, such as hats, bowties, broches, bridal crowns, bells for decorating.

Sales, exhibitions and for own use.

Bengtsson sells from her home, and she sells hat and leaves at the local museum where it's sold on commission.

She teaches the technique and sells her products.

It's difficult to repair others works, says Bengtsson, because it's so individual. She has finished others works occationally. She has also helped with the embroidery.

Women, both local and people from far away. Many find it beautiful and want to buy as presents.

She applied for a patent for the hat, but it was declined due to the existence of the mittens.

The hostel and café (Ransbysäterna), Utmarksmuseet, mostly during summers. She usually sits and does the craft at those places.

She's not part of any knitting groups or cafés, but she sometimes joins others who have craft meetings. She has a partnership with the museum. She's had partnerships with the schools.
