The process begins by forming the cross, laying out the first strips that will serve as the starting point of the piece. Next, the different strips are woven perpendicularly. Then, the strips of the bottom are bent inwards to form the stakes (uprights). The weaving of the sides then begins, taking care with those first rounds; as the weaving progresses, the work is tightened or beaten down. To continue one strip with another, a join is made by splicing it to the previous one, ensuring that the desired shape is maintained. As a final step before placing the rim, the excess ends of the sides are trimmed to the same height with a knife.
