Finally, the piece is sanded with coarse to fine grit sandpaper to smooth the surface and prepare it for polishing. A silver sheet of the appropriate thickness is chosen for repoussé and setting. The silver sheet is cleaned and cut with a jeweler's saw or shears. The design is transferred onto the silver using a burin or fine punch.
