<item_type_metadata:function>Decorative; container for food and objects</item_type_metadata:function>
<item_type_metadata:creation purpose>The object is an artistic piece, intended for decorative purposes although it can also be used as a container. These types of pieces can be sold in local markets.</item_type_metadata:creation purpose>
<item_type_metadata:technique>The object was made on a continuous electric lathe. Once the piece of wood is selected, roughing is done by hand, using an axe or adze, to give it an approximate preform. From there, it is fixed to the lathe, and using gouges, the excess wood is removed, performing an external hollowing. Using a faceplate, the piece is held on the lathe by the base to proceed with the internal hollowing. The finish is oil-based.</item_type_metadata:technique>
<item_type_metadata:material source>The wood used in the making of this piece comes from the forests surrounding the craftsman's workshop</item_type_metadata:material source>
<item_type_metadata:conecept>The object is crafted using the woodturning technique, a craft with a long history in northern Spain. The shapes are reminiscent of the bowls and containers made by Asturian turners for domestic use (consumption and preservation of food). However, this piece is an original creation by the artisan.</item_type_metadata:conecept>
<item_type_metadata:production quality>The production scale is limited, as the artisan crafts these types of pieces during their free time</item_type_metadata:production quality>
