<dc:title>Finials</dc:title>
<dc:description>Pieces made of fruit tree wood. These are artistic and decorative pieces. They can be the finials of a piece of furniture or a clock. They have a base on which to stand, and consist of long wooden spindles, where the craftsman explores and improves his technique. The use of various woods is combined.</dc:description>

<item_type_metadata:function>The object is an artistic piece, for decorative purposes. It has no practical use, but pieces of this type can be used as a finial or decoration for furniture, clocks, etc.</item_type_metadata:function>
<item_type_metadata:creation purpose>The craftsman produces these objects to improve his technique, and as a piece of art. He keeps the production for his collection, gives it as a gift or sells it.</item_type_metadata:creation purpose>
<item_type_metadata:technique>The object was made on a continuous electric lathe. Once the piece of wood has been selected, it is roughed by hand and with the electric planer to obtain the square base. The piece is placed on the lathe and held with the fingers while the lathe is turning, and the narrow, elongated part is roughed out with the gouge. The idea is to try to make as fine a shaft as possible.</item_type_metadata:technique>
<item_type_metadata:material source>The woods used in the making of these pieces come from prunings, fellings, and cleanings of fruit tree plantations near the workshop.</item_type_metadata:material source>
<item_type_metadata:conecept>The object is made using the woodturning technique, which has historically been of some importance in northern Spain. However, it is not a traditional piece from the area, but is the result of the practice and knowledge of international woodturning.</item_type_metadata:conecept>
<item_type_metadata:production quality>The production scale is limited, as the artisan crafts these types of pieces during their free time</item_type_metadata:production quality>
