VIRTUAL EUROPEAN RURAL ARTISANS PLATFORM

CONNECTING ARTISANS AROUND EUROPE

The VERA Platform is an archive of artisans, their work, and cultural practice. As a digital hub to the CULTURALITY project, the platform connects artisans in Europe and beyond through the sharing of their work with other artisans, cultural heritage professionals, researchers and the wider public, supporting collaboration, visibility, and access to diverse rural craft traditions and their modern manifestations.

Use the platform as a ‘Cultural Tourist’ – to explore and identify studios, cultural events, and products you may want to experience in person.

Showcasing & connecting artisans

Artisans in the platform help contribute to the documentation, preservation and promotion of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Learn more about highlighted artisans, discover them by geographical area, or explore the archive to learn the breadth of skills and traditions represented.

The VERA Platform helps to realize the following aims of the CULTURALITY project:

cultural revitalization

Combining craft material culture (techniques, materials, patterns and decorative elements) and intangible culture (oral knowledge, music and culinary traditions).

economic activation

Collaboration of local artisans and artists with other professionals to create employment in the rural communities and promote cultural and creative tourism activities.

Sustainable Development

Thinking about the effect that communities can have on the world and moving towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through cultural activity.
